Director, Learning Support Services
Dr. Collins is the director of learning
support services at The University of Akron Wayne College. In this position, Collins is
responsible for the programs housed in the Smucker Learning Center, which include the first-year experience initiatives, the math
and writing centers, tutoring services, developmental coursework, learning skills seminars and
accommodations for students with disabilities. |
She is a graduate of The University of Toledo, where she earned a doctorate in higher education administration with a minor in educational psychology. She also earned a master of arts degree in adult education from the Ohio State University and a bachelor of commercial science degree from Tiffin University. |

Susanna Horn - Click

Developmental Writing Coordinator
Dr.
Horn has taught for The University of Akron for nearly
twenty years. She came to Wayne College from the
Akron campus in 1999. Here she teaches English Composition
courses and coordinates the Basic Writing instructors
and the Writing Consultants in the Smucker Learning
Center. Her work in the Learning Center has helped
her develop a deep admiration and respect for students
of all ages and educational levels. |

Dr. Horn
is the adviser to Waynessence, Wayne College’s literary
and arts publication. She also works with Dean Jack Kristofco
on the Wayne College Student Writing Awards, which encourages
and recognizes excellence in creative writing among local
high school students and students enrolled at Wayne College.
This project now includes an open-to-the-public Writers Workshop.

John Maroli - Click

Developmental Math Coordinator
Dr.
John A. Maroli has been a coordinator in developmental
programs at Wayne College since August, 1992. His
duties include supervising the Basic Math instructors,
teaching math courses, tutoring in the Learning Center,
holding weekly help sessions, and conducting workshops
as needed. At Wayne College, Dr. Maroli has taught
Basic Math I, Basic Math II, Calculus I, Calculus
II, and Calculus III. Prior to coming to Wayne, he
also taught courses in College Algebra, Precalculus,
Linear Algebra, Number Theory, Mathematical Logic,
and Introduction to Programming in Pascal.

Dr. Maroli
received the Ph.D. in May, 1989, from Bowling Green State
University, working in the area of ordered algebraic structures
under the direction of Professor W. Charles Holland. His
dissertation gave a classification of transitive primitive
trees. Areas of mathematical interest include ordered algebraic
structures, group theory, and set theory. Recent interests
include relativity theory.
In his
spare time, Dr. Maroli likes to follow sports, especially
baseball and the Cleveland Indians.

Dr. Jane M. Fink

Personal Counselor / ADA Coordinator
Dr. Jane M. Fink is the full-time Personal Counselor/ADA Coordinator for Wayne College students. She has been an adjunct instructor at Wayne College since 2000 and has taught on the Akron campus in the Departments of Social Work and Counseling.
Dr. Fink received her doctorate in Counseling Education and Supervision from The University of Akron. Dr. Fink is licensed by the State of Ohio Counselor and Social Worker Board as a Licensed Independent Social Worker Supervisor (LISW-S) and Professional Counselor (PC). She has twenty four years of clinical experience with clients in private practice settings, community mental health agencies, in-patient settings, and a university counseling center.

Dr. Fink offers personal counseling to assist students with issues that may interfere with personal growth and academic success. Her philosophy as a psychotherapist for over twenty years is to look at emotional, physical and developmental challenges as normal human experiences. Dr. Fink helps people focus on their strengths and learn to cope with challenges that interfere with their quality of life. She offers counseling to deal with a wide range of mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship issues, stress management, dealing with loss and life transitions and a variety of areas to enhance personal growth and development. As the ADA Coordinator, Dr. Fink helps design individual programs and services for qualified students with documented disabilities.
