The 9th annual Wayne College Student Writing Awards competition is underway at The University of Akron Wayne College. The goal of these annual awards
is to encourage and recognize excellence
in creative writing by students at Wayne and in area high
schools.
The
writing awards are open to current Wayne College students and
to high school students in Wayne, Holmes, and
Medina counties and in parts of nearby counties traditionally
served by Wayne College.
High
school students may submit work in Poetry and Short Story.
All students may submit an entry in the Poetry
category
(up to three poems, limit of 50 lines per poem) and/or in the
Short Story category (one story, limit of 2,000 words). College
students (PSEOP students are not eligible for this category)
may also submit one Reflective Personal Essay (limit of
2,000 words).

There
are three cash prizes possible in each category and at each
level: $100 for first place, $75 for second
place, and $50 for third. High school students compete at
the high school level; Wayne students compete against Wayne
students.
