ADOBE
ACROBAT FILES (PDF) Some of the
documents on our web are in PDF format and can be viewed with
the Adobe Acrobat Reader. You can download the installation program
for Acrobat Reader, which you can then install yourself.
It is a free file and may be distributed to your colleagues and
friends. Follow the link to Adobe to
download the proper version of the reader.
Acrobat files have several desirable features. First, they display and print
out consistently across different computer platforms.
Next, the displayed document can be enlarged to any convenient viewing size
by adjusting the magnification factor near the bottom of the screen. If the
enlarged document is bigger than the display area, the user can shift the area
displayed by using the mouse to click the display hand closed while dragging
the page around.
In addition, Acrobat documents, like web pages, can contain links to other
documents. If the display hand passes over a link area, it then displays as
a pointing finger, which can be "clicked" to activate the link. Since the link
feature functions and appears the same as the normal web link feature, this
is handy.
The Acrobat Reader comes equipped with an extensive online help documentation
package, which should aid in learning. |
