Library
Cards
The University of Akron ZIP Card is used as a library card. Students, faculty,
and staff members should present their Zip Cards to check out library materials.
Community
Members
To be eligible for community borrowing privileges you must be a resident of Wayne, Holmes and Medina counties and provide the following:
- Valid Driver's License, State ID, or Military ID
- Proof that you are at least 18 years of age
- Documentation verifying your current address
Community borrowers may check out up to 15 items at any given time, which may include up to 5 OhioLINK items. In addition, community borrowers also have access to the World Wide Web, licensed databases, AV materials, and other UA libraries materials. Community borrowers must come to the library to use online and computer resources.

If fines reach $20.00,
you will be blocked from checking out further items. Also, if the fines
are over $100.00 or if a bill for item replacement has been generated,
you will be blocked from registering or graduating.
Overdue
Notices
First and second overdue notices are sent by e-mail to
University of Akron e-mail accounts.
All bill statements and fine notices will be sent through the U.S. mail.
Lost
or Damaged Materials
If you have lost or damaged items, you will receive a bill for the cost of
replacement of the item.

Recalls
All books are subject to recall. When an item has been recalled, an e-mail
notice will be sent with a new due date. If the book is late, a higher
fine will be assessed.
Renewing
Books
You may bring your University Zip Card to the library or call the Library's Information Desk (330-684-8789) to renew materials. You may also view your library record and renew your materials online through UA Libraries Catalog: http://library.uakron.edu/patroninfo/
Reserve materials and items for which there is a hold request may not be renewed.
OhioLINK materials may be renewed three times if there are no holds placed on the item.
Email
Notices
Library notices (overdue notices, hold notifications, cancellation notices,
and recall notices) will be sent to your UA email. If you want to forward your
UA e-mail to an alternate e-mail address, follow the instructions below:

Reserves
The Reserve collection consists of items placed on hold by instructors for
use by their students. The instructor determines the loan period of each
reserve item. The Reserve collection is located at the Circulation Desk.
Electronic
Reserves
Electronic Reserves are materials that can be viewed and printed online. Your
instructor will provide a password to enter the website.

Returning
Materials
Materials may be returned at the Wayne College Library Circulation Desk or
in the Book Drop located outside the library, between the Library and Community
Room (just to the left of the library doors). Materials may also be returned
to any University of Akron or OhioLINK library.
Library
PIN
Your Library PIN (Personal Identification Number) is a unique password that
identifies you as a Wayne College student, faculty, or staff member when accessing
library resources. In order to create a PIN either call the library at 330-684-8789
or go online at http://library.uakron.edu/patroninfo.
If you are having
trouble connecting to databases from home, call the library or go to http://www3.uakron.edu/library/gateway/connect/
Requesting
Materials / Placing Holds
Patrons can order books online through the UA Libraries Catalog or OhioLINK
catalogs. In order to request books through UA Libraries Catalog, a PIN
number must be created. Patrons will receive an e-mail
notice, when the materials have arrived. Materials will be held for ten
days after arrival at the Circulation Desk. |
