| FIRESIDE READERS BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP CHOOSES TITLES FOR SPRING
The Fireside Readers Book Group at The University of Akron Wayne College has selected four books to read and discuss during the spring semester. The group will hold its next meeting on Monday, March 3 in the Wayne College Community Room from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
The group will continue to discuss memoirs, with March’s selection being Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson. Participants may reserve a copy of this book by contacting their local public library or by becoming a community member borrower at the Wayne College library.
The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America by Erik Larson is the book chosen for the April meeting.
In May, the group will discuss On Hitler’s Mountain: Overcoming the Legacy of a Nazi Childhood by Irmgard A. Hunt.
The June selection will be The Worst Hard Time: The Untold Story of Those Who Survived the Great American Dust Bowl by Timothy Egan.
Maureen Lerch, manager of library services at Wayne College, enjoys the Fireside Readers Group and encourages new members to join. “It isn’t a huge commitment. Some people want to read and discuss all the selections in a year, but others may read only one of the books,” says Lerch. “We’re a very relaxed organization so we hope new members and guests will feel welcome. Plus, we always have snacks.”
If you would like more information about the discussion group or would like to be added to the e-mail list, contact Lerch at 330-684-8951 or mlerch@uakron.edu.
