GRANT MONEY TO FUND TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR LOCAL BUSINESSES

The Office of Continuing Education and Workforce Development at The University of Akron Wayne College has obtained a grant from the Ohio Department of Development to help pay for associates from companies in Holmes, Tuscarawas and Coshocton counties to attend qualified training programs. These programs include a series of ethics and compliance workshops and computer training programs. All programs will be offered at the Holmes County Higher Education Center, 88 E. Jackson St. in Millersburg.
The ethics and compliance series provides managers and supervisors a thorough and current understanding of employment laws, regulations and compliance issues. The series begins on April 16 and continues though August. Each session will contain information on important human resources issues such as discipline and termination, harassment and discrimination and the Family and Medical Leave Act. A complete list of topics, dates and times for the series can be found at www.wayne.uakron.edu/hchec.
Computer classes, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Windows XP, also will be offered at half price for qualifying companies’ associates.
For a complete schedule of classes or to register, contact the Office of Continuing Education and Workforce Development at 330-684-8980, 1-800-221-8308 ext. 8980, or via email at OCEWD@uakron.edu.
