| JOHNNY CASH TRIBUTE COMING TO WAYNE COLLEGE
The University of Akron Wayne College welcomes Terry Lee Goffee and his Johnny Cash tribute, “Train of Love,” to Orrville, Wednesday, April 16. The 7:30 p.m. show will be held in the Wayne College auditorium. This is a free concert for Wayne College students and the community.
Goffee has played and sung in country and gospel bands since 1979. Being a Cash fan since childhood, Goffee began his tribute show in 2003.
“I decided to make this tribute a little unique by portraying Johnny Cash in first person, rather than just me standing there doing the music,” Goffee said. “I had the vocal range, plus my facial features had become craggy over the years so I felt I could do it.”
Goffee’s “Train of Love” played in Orrville in July 2007 as part of the Rehm Performing Arts Summer Concert Series. The crowd’s enthusiastic response to Goffee is what inspired Jackie Ashbaugh, student activities coordinator, to invite him to the Wayne College campus.
“We’re looking forward to a great show,” says Ashbaugh. “I think our students and the community both will appreciate how much Terry Lee looks and sounds like Johnny Cash.”
