| ROTC CLASSES BEGIN THIS FALL AT WAYNE COLLEGE
Beginning this fall semester, The University of Akron Wayne College will become the only Wayne County location for Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) classes. In addition, ROTC scholarships also will be available for students in the area.
The ROTC program is a college-based, officer commissioning program designed as a college elective that focuses on leadership development, problem solving, strategic planning and professional ethics. The ROTC program involves a two-credit-hour Military Science class and a Leadership Lab that can be readily built into a student's regular academic schedule. This pattern applies for all four years of a complete bachelor’s degree. The ROTC scholarship, awarded based on a student's merit and grades, will cover expenses, including books and fees.
"We are very excited about ROTC classes coming to Wayne College," Dean Jack Kristofco says. "They provide an excellent opportunity for students in our area, and the scholarships will make that opportunity more accessible." Dr. Kristofco adds, "We believe that the courses and the scholarships make a strong combination, and we look forward to working with interested students to make it happen."
