| SUMMER SCHEDULE AT HOLMES COUNTY HIGHER EDUCATION CENTER
The relaxed atmosphere of summer is the perfect time to take a class at The University of Akron Wayne College Holmes County Higher Education Center in Millersburg.
The first session begins May 19, with three courses being offered: Basic Writing, Basic Mathematics I and Keyboarding for Skill Development. Introduction to Computers & Application Software will begin June 23 and end Aug. 16. The final two courses for the summer, Student Success Seminar and Basic Mathematics II, begin July 14 and run through Aug. 16. All of the Holmes County classes begin at 6 p.m.
The center also will be hosting its first LEGO® Engineering Camp this summer for children ages 5 to 12. The first week runs from June 16-20 and features a morning Jr. LEGO® Engineering class for 5- to 8-year-olds and an afternoon LEGO® Vehicles class for 9- to 12-year-olds. Week two, June 23-27, features Jr. LEGO® Vehicles for the 5- to 8-year-old morning group and Battle Bots Using LEGO® for the older kids in the afternoon. Cost is $59 each week, morning or afternoon sessions, and children can register for one or both weeks. Temporary Aid to Needy Families (TANF) scholarships are available for income eligible families from the Holmes County Department of Job and Family Services.
