Dean Jack Kristofco excitedly welcomes the crowd to the April 30 Groundbreaking Ceremony and tells everyone about the College's expansion plans.
The newest project at Wayne College is its first separate classroom building since the college’s opening in 1972. The Student Life Building will add a new dimension to the Wayne College campus and also will add much-needed student and classroom space. Enrollments have increased 400% since the College opened in 1972. Construction began in May 2008 and is expected to be finished for fall semester 2009.
Building Features
The new Student Life Building’s 36,000 square feet will house a large multi-purpose room for instruction, speakers, performers, and college/community events; offices and teaching spaces for the Office of Continuing Education & Workforce Development; a suite of classrooms; and a student center including a bookstore, dining facility, student lounge, and offices for student organizations.
Faculty, staff and students listen as Dean Jack Kristofco talks about the topping off ceremony traditions.
Community Partnership
As with capital projects before it, the Student Life Building will be the product of the remarkable relationship between Wayne and the community it serves, and the College is profoundly thankful for the support that has sustained it from the very beginning. We look forward to the resources the Student Life building will bring and the opportunity it provides to enhance and enrich the programs and services we offer.
