- What is Zip Space?
The University of Akron provides all personnel and students with an Internet “home drive” called ZipSpace.
- How can I access my Zip Space?
Your ZipSpace can be found using one of two methods. In method one, bring up your Internet browser, such as Internet Explorer or Mozilla FireFox, and key in https://gozips.uakron.edu/username/ (username is your UAnet ID). Note the “s” on https. The trailing “/” is required. Using this web format one can connect to their ZipSpace from anywhere in the world.
The other way to get to ZipSpace is to go to “Start”, “Run”, key in \\uanet.edu\zipspace\U\Username and hit enter. “U” is the first letter of your UAnet ID and “Username” is your UAnet ID. This can be done from any College computer. To do this from home, you need to connect to UA’s VPN service. Instructions for connecting to UA’s VPN can be found at www.uakron.edu/library ; select the “Connect to Online Resources from Home” link. The Wayne College Library homepage has a similar link.
Note that tied to your ZipSpace there is a personal web page. The address of the web page is http://gozips.uakron.edu/~username where username is your UAnet ID. Talk to someone in Computing Services if you are interested in using your personal web pages
- Where can I get help saving or retrieving my files?
The Technical Support Service Help Desk is located inside the Library room F-112 and will provide assistance with technical questions. The Smucker Learning Center located in B-wing has a computer lab with a computer tutor on duty during many hours of operation and assistance with computer questions is available.

- What is a UAnet ID?
Each student, staff, and faculty member is assigned a unique identifier for log in, registration, grades, and other purposes at the University of Akron. This unique identifier is called A UAnet ID.
- Where can I get information about my UAnet ID or my password?
Student Services can assist you with information about your UAnet ID and password. The Student Services office is located just inside the front lobby of the building.
- How do I change my UAnet ID password?
Passwords can be changed for your UAnet ID by going to the following URL in a web browser. https://gozips.uakron.edu/zid/user.html
- How do I reactivate my UAnet ID?
You can reactivate your UAnet ID by going to the following URL in a web browser.
https://gozips.uakron.edu/zid/user.html. If you know your UAnet ID and password, you can reactivate your ID. If you do not remember your UAnet ID or password, you can call the Akron Campus Help Desk at 330-972-6888 or if you are on campus, x6888.

- Do I have access to the Ohio Broadband Educational Network?

- Can I access the Wayne College network with my wireless laptop?
Students can access the network with their personal laptops after the laptop has been configured for the University of Akron network. The wireless card must support LEAP authentication and it is important to note that not all wireless cards are compatible with the University of Akron network. The laptop must be secure before you connect to the University of Akron network. To be secure it must have all critical Windows Updates installed, Administrator Password set, and Anti-Virus software installed. Assistance with configuring a wireless card can be obtained at the Help Desk located inside the library in room F-112.

- Is my wireless card compatible with the University of Akron network?
Click here for a list of compatible hardware. Note that not all laptops and cards can be configured to access the network although we will make every effort to assist you with the proper configuration of your hardware for the University of Akron network.
- Can I print to the network printers with my laptop?

- What is Zipline?
The University of Akron has set up a new “portal” service. Use your Internet browser to connect to zipline.uakron.edu . The “portal” serves as a launching pad to get one into services that include email, WebCT, the online registration and information system, special announcements, etc. There is a link to ZipLine located at the bottom left of the Wayne College homepage (www.wayne.uakron.edu).
- How do I access Zipline?
Students, faculty, and staff log in to Zipline using their UAnet ID and password.

- What is WebCT?
WebCT is content management software. Class materials such as syllabi, quizzes, presentation, and notes could be posted in this course classroom for electronic access.
- Can WebCT be accessed from home?
Yes . users can access WebCT using their personal Internet Service Provider and browser. Links to WebCT are located on the Wayne College homepage at www.wayne.uakron.edu. All users must log into WebCT with their UAnet ID and password to gain access to their courses.
